Dear Wine Friend
Which is your best food pairing wine in your cellar?
Try matching garlic prawns, salumi board, duck paté, aranchini balls, grilled vegetables, ravioli with sage butter and Osso Buco with only one wine.
Each one of these mouth watering dishes served at our 2018 Italian Feast can be matched with sangiovese! What makes this Italian red so food compatible?
The combination of natural dry tannins, savoury/earthy flavours finished with high acidity makes this Italian red hard to beat as a natural food wine for an array of dishes.
Vintage 2021 produced high quality fruit from our old sangiovese block and only small amounts were harvested on April 11 from the new hillside vineyard. The batches were open fermented and then matured for 16 months in French oak barriques. The winemaker’s preference is using high quality seasoned oak to keep the focus on the wine’s natural dry tannins instead of overshadowing this unique feature with oak tannins from new French barrels.
Like its predecessors, the 2021 sangiovese displays aromas of cherry and raspberry; the palate has a hint of liquorice and a layer of textured natural grape tannins extending the wines’ length. Our sangiovese finishes with softened natural acidity making it easy to food match. Try it!
